Walter P. Taylor Back To School Bash On Saturday, August 29th, the Z Foundation, Infusion Ministries, KICKO and Word of Life Ministries joined together to put on another outreach event in the Walter P. Taylor neighborhood. The day was full of fun, food, laughter, and love. Everyone seemed to enjoy the pie and hot dog eating contests, popcorn, sno cones, chili dogs and ice cream sundaes. We also appreciated another chance to get to know and spend time with the kids and families from Walter P. With God's help, relationships are being formed and trust is being earned. |
Dave Park, founder of Infusion Ministries, gave a short message using Zach's story, along with the message of salvation, to encourage people to give their lives to Jesus and live a life of faith. The Infusion staff helped set up for the event, played games with the children, and jumped in wherever needed. Word of Life Ministries, led by Pastor Kevin Perry, organized and ran a clothing and toy give-a-way with items donated by volunteers. We only brought home one bag of unwanted clothes, so it seems like this was a much needed and appreciated part of the outreach. |
Janice and Bill Clark, with KICKO, brought one of their Sonday School trucks which allowed us to use their stage and sound system. They also helped spread the word about the event by passing out flyers and making announcements at their Sidewalk Sonday School program. KICKO has been reaching out to this neighborhood for about 14 years, and they are one of the main reasons we feel God led us to this neighborhood for our local outreach events. |
We ended the afternoon by passing out New Testament Bibles to anyone who wanted one. In each Bible we placed a "Zach card" which briefly tells his story and why the Z Foundation was started. |
The smiling faces indicated the event went well and we are very excited about working together with several ministries to reach out to this neighborhood on a very regular basis. |
